Acquaint has won the Dutch CAETS communication prize. The award is designed to encourage technological companies to effectively communicate their technology to the general public by video. Winning the national prize means that Acquaint had advanced to the international competition.
The CAETS Communication Prize is an annual competition aimed at encouraging technological scientists and engineers worldwide to communicate their technology and its importance as clearly and effectively as possible to the public. This is done by creating a video that can be up to 5 minutes long, primarily targeting young people and students to inspire them to pursue careers in technology. To participate in the international competition, one must first win the national competition. The winner of the Dutch CAETS communication prize is selected by the Netherlands Academy of Engineering.
Acquaint is honored to be selected by the Netherlands Academy of Engineering as winner of the Dutch CAETS Communication Prize 2024. The winning video has been chosen out of all other Dutch submission and best met the criteria set by CAETS. One of the criteria was to clearly describe the problem solved by the developed technology and its relevance or impact.
Acquaint’s technology is particularly relevant as in many countries worldwide approximately 20 to 40 percent of drinking water leaks away before reaching people’s homes. With Acquaint’s ultrasonic technology, it is possible to inspect pipelines in a non-destructive manner, thereby preventing the leakage of drinking water, among other issues. Acquaint has developed three different tools equipped with this technology, with the Acquarius tool being highlighted in the video. This tool can perform internal inspections in both drinking water and wastewater pipelines, detecting various failure mechanisms such as leaks and corrosion.
Having won the national prize, Acquaints video is now eligible to compete in the international CAETS Communication Prize. The winner of this prestigious prize will be chosen from 11 submissions from different countries and will be announced at the annual CAETS meeting, taking place from July 1 to 4 in Helsinki, Finland. Acquaint eagerly awaits to see if their winning video can also clinch the international prize. For now, they are very proud of their Dutch achievement.
